Anti Rabies Vaccination (ARV)

Animal NepalAnti Rabies Vaccination (ARV)

Rabies is a serious public health issue as an estimated 200 people die of rabies every year. Dogs with rabies also suffer an excruciating death so we have been strategically vaccinating stray dogs against rabies under our humane dog management programme to prevent further rabies outbreak. Rabies vaccine must be provided every year therefore, we conduct our vaccination camps in the same area every year (as dogs are territorial, through our strategy we have a high chance of reaching the same dogs every year).

We also vaccinate every dog that enters our treatment center or are treated by our Mobile Response Team to reduce the chances of rabies outbreak. In addition, we also conduct Anti Rabies Vaccination(ARV) camps together with municipalities’ ward committees and local youth groups in the communities. Our major vaccination camps are conducted at Chobar height as part of our annual vaccination and Patan Durbar Square on World Rabies day each year.
